As the building further weakens in certain sections, the inevitable happens: Floor sag, walls lean, and steel bars bend under the reduced load-bearing capacity of these members. Today, many sections of Middleside Barracks can be likened to a house of cards waiting to be blown down by strong winds. Earthquakes likewise pose a very real threat to these structures. Is it then wise to put up catwalks and little ramps within these structures to turn Middleside Barracks into a multi-storey Tourist Walkthrough? Regardless of the intention to shore up these ruins, I personally think that this is not a good idea. Do you?
