This particular plllar has been so chipped that its iron bars have already begun to separate from the concrete in which they used to be embedded.
I can't wait to see if these workers with acetylene torches are going to get rid of these bars. If they do, then we can be sure that they are, indeed, further damaging the building.
The original idea behind my taking these photos was to somehow document the existing condition of Middleside Barrakcs, so that if any radical changes occur later on, there would be a basis for comparison and ACCOUNTABILITY.
This is why it is essential that ALL existing structures in Corregidor be documented before further damage is inflicted on them by natural or unnatural means.
